OUR STORY

Founded in 1951 by two General Mills mechanical engineers, Lake Engineering has a proud and storied past. Selected by Honeywell to make key parts for the B-52 navigation system in the early 50's, Lake performed so well on those very difficult, high precision parts, that Honeywell chose Lake to make key control components for all the manned space flights in the latter half of the 20th century. From John Glenn in the Mercury capsule during the first American orbit of the earth, through all the Apollo missions to the moon, and even all the Space Shuttles through the 80's and 90's, Lake delivered on its promise to provide high precision, critical parts on time. Word about Lake's outstanding performance got around the aviation world and today Lake Engineering enjoys a preeminent place as a key supplier to Boeing, Rockwell Collins, Danaher Motion, and other aerospace OEM's. You can be sure that every commercial plane you fly on has Lake Engineering parts in the cockpit and avionics bay helping to bring you safely to your destination.

Lake Engineering has been a veteran-owned small business all throughout its 65 year history. We take pride in supporting our nation's men and women who have pledged their lives to protect ours.

OUR CULTURE

Lake Engineering takes tremendous pride in fostering a culture that cherishes 'Integrity, Teamwork, and Innovation'

There's a reason Integrity is listed first, if you don't promote honesty and honor and doing the right thing even when no-one is watching, then we have no interest in your other attributes no matter how good they may be.

We evaluate all of our efforts and potential initiatives through the multi-lensed viewer of 'Customer, OEE, Resource Utilization, and Talent & Culture'

Our teams are tasked with serving our internal and external customers better and better each day, and with constantly identifying opportunities for reducing process waste and improving the quality of our products.

Benevolent leadership and gracious professionalism are core to our beliefs, we're all coached to be leaders in our own way.

At the heart of our Advanced Employee Engagement Program is Strengths-based Development

People will naturally perform at the highest levels when they're offered tasks that leverage their inherent Strengths. This will also naturally ramp up their engagement; placing a person in this environment is truly a win-win-win for the employee, the business, and the Customer.

At Lake Engineering our vision is to couple state-of-the-art manufacturing with our own Advanced Employee Engagement Program to create an industry-leading force in aerospace manufacturing.

While also leveraging our ability as a small business to change any course very quickly at any time, as well as our robust Lean Six Sigma program, we're taking customer satisfaction and value-added service to new heights.

We will never rest on our many awards from some of the most respected names in aerospace. While tremendously rewarding and inspiring, we're well aware of the critical need to continuously improve our skill-sets and cross-functional performance to maintain our competitive advantage over our esteemed peers.

Lake Engineering strives to provide our employees, customers, subcontractors, and vendors with a partner worthy of consistent praise.

Our differentiator is our people, we take the continuous development of ALL of our employees very seriously. This serves our partnerships well; we don't shy away from challenges, nor do we give up easily. Putting it another way, we're used to winning and we plan to keep it that way.

In addition to people, we clearly understand the need for ever-improving equipment and process technologies. We readily invest in next-generation machines and place tremendous importance in researching and developing cutting-edge capabilities.

We're a veteran-owned business that is proud of our contributions to our nation and its people's safety and protection, we take this very seriously.

OUR FUTURE

Our customers expect greater results as they continue to move forward; which in turn has driven Lake Engineering to embrace the type of innovation, automation and leading edge manufacturing technology required to meet those needs.

To further drive capacity and production, we utilize an automated Flexible Manufacturing System on our newer machining centers. Apart from increasing our potential capacity to 24/7, this also decreases part cost by reducing or eliminating setup expenses.

Lake Engineering is also currently working to incorporate MTConnect technology on all its machining centers, giving instant visibility for monitoring and tracking of machine tool utilization in our quest to obtain World Class OEE.

Our vision is to continuously strive towards being a World Class manufacturing company to our customers.

To help us on that journey we have integrated Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement into our organization. Combined with an employee development strategy, we aim to cultivate a highly skilled workforce that is engaged in delivering quality parts, on time, at a competitive price.

"If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you've always got." - Henry Ford

In order to maintain a competitive advantage in this ever evolving market; Lake Engineering is exploring newer technologies like Additive Manufacturing for uses such as fixtures and manufacturing aids. In addition to aiding production, this technology enhances Lake Engineering's capability for collaborative Engineering and Design to Cost projects with our customers.
